How do we know if our senior pets are experiencing a quality life? For those of you who have asked this question, or have cared for a senior pet, I highly recommend the two articles below. I personally cared for, and lost, my two senior dogs in 2016, Charlie 12 yrs and Lilly nearly 15 yrs. I asked the question about quality of life, daily, near the end of their lives. While I was willing to go through whatever inconvenience, treatments, lack of sleep etc necessary, ultimately it was the “Quality” question that allowed me to let go. My vet, Dr. Miller of Creature Comforts Veterinary Services, was wonderful support, when the emotional effects of caring for an ill dog, and the constant worry, made seeing the reality of things, difficult.

Reading these articles made me think Dr. Becker was talking to me and about my exact situation! I know many of you have gone down similar roads with your pets, or are going to. For all of the joy our pets provide, allowing our beloved pets with a dignified passing is something we all want.
