The Bark Market has a long history of supporting rescues and shelters. We encourage clients to learn about their local shelter and other animal rescues, when looking for a new pet. The homeless animal crisis is real, locally, statewide, countrywide. We like to offer our space to rescues for outreach events so that they can educate people about rescue and also to promote adoptable animals to potential forever homes. We have hosted Shorewood cocker rescue for many years. They are a foster based rescue of American Cocker Spaniels. All of the adoptable dogs are in foster homes, there is no actual “shelter”. All involved are volunteers, fundraising and adoption fees are how the rescue is supported financially.
